Welcome To The New York Media Exchange
What…
The New York Media Exchange is a new Radio Podcast that takes a weekly look at the landscape of media from a NY Centric perspective. Each week, the program summarizes the stories making media news in The Media Capitol of the world, in the nation and across the globe. Features and ongoing series range from an unblinking eye on the changes in journalism, media delivery and technology, to a “Where Are They Now” segment revisiting the voices and faces on air and behind the scenes in the media industry.
Who…
The Media Exchange is produced and distributed through the resources of The City University of New York and hosted by long time media specialist and observer Jim Carney. Carney is currently the senior faculty member of the Journalism & Communication Department at Lehman College CUNY, and formerly, the founding Academic Director of the CUNY Online Baccalaureate in Media & Communication. He led the team that built Bronxnet – the EMMY Award winning community media center in the Bronx, that led the explosion in community based electronic media in the 1990s, and years in production and media planning at Time Warner Cable related companies in New York. The program draws from the rich pool of knowledge in the CUNY human database, as well as from the web of media experts from diverse corners of the media world.
When – and Where …
Originating from the Lehman College WebStudios in The Bronx, each week a new podcast is created and distributed with updates on media news, history and interviews. New shows debute Thursday evenings at 9PM (tentative) on The Lehman College (CUNY) TuneIn web channel and available as an on-demand podcast through TheBronxJournal.com website.
Why …
In an era of unprecedented challenges to the very core principles of American Journalism, and a technical world that out outpaces all efforts to keep abreast, an ongoing analysis and conversation of the news, trends and lessons from the past are critical to charting a promising media future.
